Mobile Data Explained

What is mobile data? 

Mobile data, also called cellular data, is the term given to any and all information that is downloaded from the internet to your mobile device. Every time you use your phone or tablet to check your email, stream music or watch videos, you’re using mobile data. Some apps also use data to store your information or run in-app advertisements. 
 
Data Speeds 

Data speed on mobile devices is measured in Mbps (Megabits per second). Depending on your device, data plan and the network coverage in your location, you could experience a range of different data speeds. 
Information about your data connection can usually be found in the top right corner of your screen, next to the battery bar. These are shown as 3G, 4G, 4G+ and, nowadays, 5G. These indicate the available current data speed, where 4G is faster than 3G, 4G+ is faster than 4G, and so on. 
 
What Settings Do I Need To Access Data? 

Data is enabled by default on all eSIMs. If you do not have access to data, check Settings > Mobile/Cellular Data on your device to ensure you have mobile data usage switched to On. 
 
Can I use my iPad as a mobile hotspot/tether? 

If you are connected to the internet and your device supports it, then you will be able to use it as a mobile hotspot.
